My practice is all about helping business owners, appraisers, and attorneys determine or resolve questions of value. I do this in two principal ways.

Business Valuation and Litigation Support Consulting Services

I bring over 30 years of combined experience in public accounting, private industry, and entrepreneurial endeavors to the table. I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and digging into a challenging valuation or litigation engagement. My business valuation and litigation support consulting services are directed primarily at business owners, trusted business advisors, and attorneys.

• Most owners of closely-held companies will require a valuation of their ownership interest at some point for some purpose. For example, as the life cycle of a business progresses, valuation, succession, and sale become intertwined as owners seek to transfer interests and/or create liquidity. This is how the “establish” and “build” of BVA’s tag line comes into play.
• At any stage of development, an enterprise may be subject to actual, or claims of, economic impairment resulting from actions such as breach of contract, business interruption, or theft/infringement of intellectual property. As directed by counsel, I perform research, analysis, and modeling to quantify losses. This is where the “protect” and “defend” of BVA’s tag line becomes relevant.
• Generally, I quote valuation engagements on a fixed-fee basis (usually a range). Fees for litigation engagements are charged at my standard hourly rate. I require a signed arrangement letter and a retainer before I begin. My fees are not contingent or dependent on any findings, opinions, or conclusions that are presented in my report.

Report Review and Project Consulting Services

During my career, I’ve discovered that my Unique Ability® is identifying and avoiding potholes … figuratively speaking, of course. My report review and project consulting services are directed primarily at appraisers who want to carry the laboring oar, but need me to review and provide feedback on a draft report or to consult on specific valuation matters at a deeper level.

• The report review service is conducted for a nominal fixed fee. This service is ideal for appraisers who work at small valuation firms and need a second set of eyes to look at a report before it is issued.
• The report review service is also available to attorneys who seek an independent assessment of a report prepared by either their own expert or an opposing expert.
• Packages of consulting hours are offered at a discount to my standard hourly rate depending on the number of hours purchased. Payment in advance, along with a signed arrangement letter, is required before I begin.
